Adams County Health Center (ACHC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center that strives to provide high quality health care services to residents and visitors of Adams, Washington, Valley, Idaho and surrounding counties. ACHC is a multidisciplinary clinic where medical, behavioral health, dental, optometry, physical therapy, care management, laboratory, and pharmacy professionals all work together to give the best care possible to our patients!

With healthcare facilities few and far between, ACHC offers an array of services to meet the healthcare needs of everyone, regardless of social or economic status. Some of the services ACHC currently offers are primary care, dental, pharmacy, laboratory, optometry, behavioral health, physical therapy, diabetes care, immunizations, several free community outreach programs, and financial and insurance programs.

Mendy Stanford

Chief Executive Officer

Mendy Stanford is the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of Adams County Health Center, Inc., (ACHC), a federally qualified health center. Mendy grew up in a small rural town in western Montana, where she attended her primary education. She always wanted to grow up and be a nurse to care for and help people. She graduated from Montana State University in Bozeman Montana with her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 1997. In July of 1997, Mendy and her husband moved to Council Idaho, where she worked as a nurse in the Council Community Hospital, until it closed in 2002. Mendy enjoyed working in Council and caring for patients in the community, however due to the circumstances she went to work in Ontario for 16 years at Treasure Valley Community College as a nursing instructor. During her tenure at Treasure Valley Community College, she implemented a simulation curriculum, a medical assistant program and became the director of the nursing program where she managed the nursing program, medical assistant program, certified nursing assistant program, and physical education program. During the time she worked in Ontario, Mendy was on the Board of Trustees for Adams County Health Center for 5 years and on the Board of Trustees at Valley Family Health Center for over a year.  In January of 2018 Mendy graduated with her Doctorate in Nursing Practice. In September of 2019, Mendy joined ACHC part-time as the quality assurance and risk manager, where she was responsible for quality metrics for UDS, PCMH, incident reporting, risk management meetings, risk and quality analysis, and staff education. In January of 2023, Mendy started full time at ACHC with her continued duties, including becoming a SHIBA and YHI volunteer and helping patients with their SDOH needs. Her years of education, management, and experience as a nurse helped prepare her for her current position with ACHC. Mendy was appointed by the Board of Trustees to serve as the CEO for ACHC in July of 2024.

Wendy Mott

Chief Financial Officer

 

Wendy was born and raised in the upper valley of Hood River Oregon.  When Wendy graduated from High School she moved to Ontario, Oregon where she attended Treasure Valley Community College. While there she earned an AAS degree in Equine Science and small business management

After graduating from college, Wendy started working at Holy Rosary Medical Center as a phlebotomist. This is where she discovered she loved working with people. She went back to school to get her CNA Certification and then worked at a nursing home for 3 years, while continuing to complete her prerequisites for nursing school. During this time, Wendy also joined the local volunteer fire department and went back to school to become an EMT Intermediate so she could become the relief person for the quick response unit.

An opportunity arose to learn a new skill and Wendy started working in the accounting office of a franchised car dealership. She worked her way up the ladder from title clerk, accounting assistant, office manager and comptroller.  While working there she won the comptroller award many years in a row.

Wendy has 30 plus years’ experience in accounting.  Her accounting experience has been mostly on the job training, and some college and online courses.

Wendy moved to Council in July of 2016 and started working at ACHC in August of 2017 as the Finance Assistant.  She was hired with the intent of stepping up to the CFO position when the then current CFO was ready to retire. On January 1, 2022, Wendy stepped into the CFO position.  Wendy has 2 sons and a granddaughter and a wonderfully supportive husband.  She enjoys anything outdoors, hunting, fishing, and in her free time, she loves to do crafts.

Melissa Roundtree

Clinical Operational Manager

Melissa was born and raised in Council, Idaho. Melissa started her career in the medical field in high school by becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). She began working in the nursing home at the Council Hospital while still in high school. This is where she fell in love with the medical field and discovered just how much she enjoyed helping people. Upon graduating from Council High School, Melissa moved to Boise and attended BSU and American Institute of Health Technology where she received her Medical Assistant (MA) Certification in 1999. She later attended Treasure Valley Community College and graduated with an Associate of Arts (AA) in general studies in 2019. While living in the Boise area, Melissa worked in Endocrinology, Urology, and Family practice for several years before returning to Council, to raise her family.

When a part-time MA position opened at ACHC, Melissa gladly accepted and restarted her journey at this facility in 2006. In 2019 Melissa saw a need for a Clinic Manager at ACHC to help serve the community even better. She created a plan of action and brought it to the ACHC Leadership Team. They loved her ideas, and Melissa became the first ever ACHC Clinic Manager. In the years since she created the position, ACHC has expanded and added additional services and departments. This allowed Melissa to continue adapting and modifying the Clinic Manager job into becoming the Clinical Operational Manager job that it is today, which is a part of the ACHC Leadership Team. In this role, she is responsible for working alongside the ACHC CEO and CFO to make decisions for the whole facility and to ensure ACHC continues to offer high-quality healthcare services to the people in Adams County and surrounding communities.

In her free time, Melissa loves spending time with her kids and attending their different sporting activities. She also enjoys reading, and many different outdoor recreations such as reading, rafting, fishing, and camping. Melissa is proud to be able to raise her children in the same small town she grew up in, and to be able to give back to the community that helped raise her into the person she is today.

Our Commitment to You

ACHC is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and relies heavily upon donations and grant funding. Donations are tax deductible under IRS sections 2055, 2106, or 2522 of the Code. Currently our federally - qualified health center serves about 3,700 individuals and is located at 205 N. Berkley.

A Rich History

Starting out as the Council Hospital, this facility met the full service & emergent healthcare needs for our rural community. Due to lack of funding, the hospital morphed into a skilled nursing home for area residents to reside with round-the-clock care.

By April 2002, the clinic was reorganized to become designated as a free-standing Rural Health Clinic, offering primary preventative healthcare. In December 2004, ACHC became a Federally Qualified Health Center and eligible to receive additional funds and enhanced reimbursement opportunities.

Home to approximately 3,900 residents and encompassing 1,365 square miles, Adams County is designated as a Primary Care, Dental and Mental Health Professional Shortage Area, as well as a Medically Underserved Population area. ACHC has grown substantially and is now the largest private employer in Adams County.
